How to get here

The 6 easy steps to get to Playa Del Carmen, when you arive in Cancun airport

When arriving at Cancun Airport you land at either:

Terminal 2 [Domestic & International flights] or Terminal 3 [International flights]

Step 1 ARRIVAL

Exit airplane and enter airport terminal. It is important to have your paperwork [Tourist Card form & Customs Declaration form] completed before you exit the airplane. These are given to you on the airplane. Bring a pen with you.

Step 2 IMMIGRATION

At immigration you present your Tourist Card form and show your identification. Families or couples traveling together may approach the immigration desk together. Most countries receive a 6 month tourist visa for Mexico.

Step 3 GETTING YOUR LUGGAGE

After immigration you proceed to the luggage carrousel [Baggage Claim] and collect your luggage.

  • If any of your luggage is missing there will be a representative from the airline you are flying with at the airport. To find your rep, approach any of the security guards walking around or go over to the Immigration Office and ask where you find your rep.
  • If your missing bag(s) is not at the airport the airline will attempt to find it then it will be delivered to your hotel. There is no cost for this.

Step 3 CUSTOMS

While waiting for your luggage on the luggage carrousel you will notice Customs. As soon as you have all your possessions you walk over and stand in one of the lines waiting to go through. In the Cancun Airport when you approach Customs you are asked to press a button that will turn a light green or red. If the light is green you walk through, if it turns red they will inspect your luggage.

Step 5 LEAVING THE AIRPORT

After you pass through Customs there is only one way to go to exit the building. If arriving between 7am and 10pm take the ADO bus to Playa del Carmen. www.ado.com.mx to see departure times. Look for the red ADO counter after customs, before leaving the terminal. In Terminal 2 the ADO representation is outside the terminal at a small stand next to the bussed. After you exit you are in the pick-up zone. This is where the various transportation services companies are waiting. Please ignore any comments about, that there are no ADO busses running, these are taxi drivers trying to get you, to take their taxi instead. If private pick-up is pre-arranged there will be a guy from GoPro Playa outside waiting for you. Due to local taxi rules, we are not allowed to be in the area right outside the terminal. We will be at the public pickup area, which is to your left as soon as you exit the terminal.

Step 6 ARRIVING IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Once at the bus terminal in Playa del Carmen a representative of GoPro Playa will pick you up at the terminal. Please confirm by email or Facebook that you are on the bus (has wifi) and which time it leaves Cancun, so we can pick you up. Once picked up at the bus terminal or at the airport we take you directly to your accommodation at the Hostal Rancho Bendito.

Q: What if I cant find a GoProPlaya/Mexico Blue Dream representative?

A: Just wait! If in the Airport, make sure you are waiting outside and in the public area. (not where all the taxi and busses are) . If you are at the bus station in Playa del Carmen, just wait. If we are not already there, we will be there soon :)

Q: How long does it take to get through everything?

A:The fastest is about 1⁄2 hr. The longest is about a 1 1⁄2 hr. ordeal. We calculate about an 45min or so when picking you up. That means if your plane is scheduled to arrive at lets say 13.30, then we will be waiting there from 14.10-14.15

Q: Are there bathrooms at arrivals?

A:Yes.

Q:What happens if some of my luggage is missing?

A:Find your airline representative. Give them the necessary information [your name, hotel staying at, bag description]. Make sure you get a telephone number for that person or their office. Proceed to your hotel. Your luggage should be delivered to you. You can telephone the rep and inquire.

Q:If we require any emergency medical care after deplaning, is it available?

A:Yes, there are emergency medical services at both terminals.

Q:What do I do if I lose something at the airport?

A:Ask a security guard or police officer where the Security Office is. Report the loss to this office.

Testimonials

"I'm glad I did my IDC with Go PRO Playa because I was crossing over from another agency and needed time to learn "the PADI language". I liked having a longer class time and Anders is very patient. We had an international group with 5 nationalities and as many languages. We all worked together as a group to learn the material and master our craft. They even helped me find affordable housing. We did our IE in a cenote which was beautiful. When we were finished we got to dive with the Bull sharks. I have already recommended Go PRO Playa to other people. " - Beth
